M’O, Pavillon Amont, Musée d’Orsay, Paris 1989

The station and hotel d’Orsay, designed by Victor Laloux and built over the “Cour des Comptes” in Paris, were inaugurated on 14 July in 1900 as part of the Exposition Universelle. The new project designed by Gae Aulenti and Italo Rota has preserved the original metal structure, using a stone covering to transform the railway station into a museum of the 19th century.

Inside the Amont Pavilion, specific object of my study, a series of metal platforms allow visitors to explore the pre-existing machine room from an almost aerial position.
