Emanuela Brignone Cattaneo

Emanuela Brignone Cattaneo is an Italian architect, born in Paris. She studied in Art History & Archaeology at Paris X University graduating with a Master degree in Architecture at Colombia University (NY). After revisiting buildings designed by Le Corbusier, Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe, Louis Kahn and Luis Barragan, her career began with a collaboration with Gae Aulenti in the realization of the transformation of the acclaimed M’O, Musée d'Orsay, housed in the former Gare d'Orsay in Paris-

Her in-dept understanding on historical restoration gave her a further appreciation in the qualities of construction. Her approach to projects with a deep respect of their historical heritage are often characterised by an profound investigation and exhaustive vocation to maintain the buildings in their current state carefully and delicately integrating a new technological and esthetical life.

Architect Emanuela Brignone Cattaneo restored many Genovese buildings from the XII and XIX century transforming them into Museums such as the Modern Art Gallery of Genova or Palazzo Lomellino listed as a UNESCO world heritage -More recently the studio was involved in a large project in Mexico in Costa Careyes to create a large new urban space, including a sanctuary and a contemporary art gallery.
